Dr. Hoard is proud to have the finest dental team in North Carolina. Dr. Hoard is seated at center with staff behind him from left to right: Amy, Wendy, Charlotte, Rae, Lori and India.
Rae – Office Manager
I have lived in Eastern North Carolina my whole life and have been married to my husband for 26 years. We both enjoy traveling on our motorcycle and visiting the North Carolina Mountains. We have two dogs named Rusty and Gus, whom refer to as our kids! I started working for Dr. Hoard as the Office Manager in 1993 and am very proud to be a member of his team. I have attended a number of continuing education courses and have acquired a lot of dental knowledge. Favorite part about working here is seeing Dr. Hoard’s dentistry change people’s lives!
Lori – Dental Assistant
Born and raised in a large family with one brother and four sisters in Jones County, NC. I began my dental career in 1992 as a dental assistant with Dr. Hoard. Dr. Hoard’s association with the Dawson Academy and his passion for smile design has led my career down a path suited perfectly for me. As his Lab Technician, I have taken on a number of responsibilities. In addition to my family here at the practice, I have been happily married for 25 years to my husband Dwayne. We have two wonderful children named Justin and Allison. Justin was married in 2011 and we are looking for what the future holds!
India – Dental Assistant
From Alabama, I’ve lived in several different states as I enjoy traveling and meeting new people. I began as a dental assistant in Connecticut in 1995 becoming x-ray certified in 1996. My experience includes several specialties like endodontic and oral surgery. To be closer to my family, I moved to New Bern, NC in 2010 and have a renewed excitement for dentistry working with Dr. Hoard. His passion for dentistry and smile design is contagious throughout the practice. I specifically enjoy learning all of the advances in comprehensive dental care through the Dawson Academy. I am very grateful to be a part of this life changing practice!
Charlotte – Hygienist
I was born and raised on Hawkers Island, NC which is where my love for the water started! After hygiene graduation I started working with Dr. Hoard and was very fortunate to start my career at the time he began studying with the Dawson Academy. Between attending most of the Dawson Academy seminars and learning from Dr. Hoard for 16 years, I have gained great knowledge of the masticatory system. Recently my husband and I were blessed with our son Thomas and I now work here 2 days a week. Continuing to work here is great as I get to spend my days with the patients, who are also my friends!
Amy – Hygienist
I was born and raised in New Bern, and am proud to call it my hometown. After graduating high school, I was accepted into the Dental Hygiene Program at Wayne Community College. In 2001 I graduated from college, received my hygiene license, and married the love of my life- it was a busy year! We now have four children and continue to live in New Bern. I began working for Dr. Hoard in 2009. I have learned many things from him and the patients I treat since I began. Dr. Hoard’s attention to detail, not only in his work, but also concerning the patients personal desires and needs is something I have not seen in any other general dentist office. He is truly passionate about what he does and has greatly influenced my practice of dental hygiene. I love working here.
Wendy – Hygienist
Originally from Virginia Beach, my family and I moved to Jacksonville in 2001 when my husband received orders to Camp Lejeune. Originally on the path to Nursing, I found a passion for Dental Hygiene while working in a dental office in Key West. I graduated with my AA and AAS in Dental Hygiene, both with honors. I was awarded Colgate’s Student Total Achievement Recognition Award. I plan to complete my BS in Dental Hygiene in the future. I am a member of the American Dental Hygiene Association and the North Carolina Hygiene Association.
I have worked with Dr. Hoard and his team since 2009. Dr. Hoard’s association with the Dawson Academy has taught me a great deal about smile design and how it adds elements of function and health for each patient. Dr. Hoard’s passion for smile design has added to the level of care that I strive to provide for my patients.
My husband and I have three teenagers, two girls and a boy, who keep us very busy. We also have two dogs, two cats and a guinea pig. As a family, we enjoy spending time with our friends, who are our extended family. We love camping in our motor home and have made yearly traditions with our friends. I also enjoy the beach, reading and hitting the road in my Camaro on nice days.
